Leona Lewis once again stole the show this evening, with a heart-rending performance of Sorry (seems to be the hardest word), that had even Simon Cowell describing it as ‘world class’.
I actually think I’d prefer it in some way if they scrapped the whole competition idea right here, and just gave Leona 5 songs to sing each Saturday night - I’d more more than happy with that. If there was ever a sure-fire winner, then this is your girl!
Speaking of favourites, Ben Mills seems to be fading as time goes on. This week’s performance of Aerosmith was just lacking the kind of magic that you really need at this stage in the competition (in fact, I might even go so far as to say the MacDonald’s did better than him. Someone who really is finishing strongly is Robert Allen - after last week’s shock where he was saved when Louis Walsh decided to eliminate Ashley, Robert came back with what was easily his best performance so far, and second only to Leona on the night.
Elsewhere, Eton Road were good, but not as good as last week, and cheeky chappy Ray continues to do what he does best, this week ’swingifying’ Queen’s Crazy little thing called love.
Nikitta Angus was eliminated by her own mentor Simon, when he was forced to choose between her and Ray when the public left them both in the bottom two (to Louis and Sharon’s obvious delight!)
